Can playful banter like Korda's really boost team spirit in high-stakes tournaments like the Solheim Cup?

Team USA is having all the fun before they take revenge on the Europeans for the 2023 loss at Finca Cortesin, Spain. The previous edition was a heartbreaking affair for the 12 American nationals, but they have come back stronger and better at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Amidst the heightened preparation for the Solheim Cup, what led Nelly Korda, Alison Lee, and more corner to Lexi Thompson?

The Solheim Cup U.S.A. posted a new video on Instagram featuring a few faces, including Korda, Lee, Rose Zhang, Sarah Schmelzel, Allisen Corpuz, Thompson, Lilia Vu, and Laura Coughlin. The one question they all were asked was who would they not allow to have the aux for a jamming session in a car. Surprisingly, the popular answer was the 11-time LPA Tour winner, Lexi Thompson. Lee gave her reasoning and took a hilarious dig at her compatriot. She said, “Probably Lexi. I heard that she liked hardcore metal. And I don’t know if that’s my vibe.”

Then, the 14-time LPGA Tour winner Korda also gave the same answer as Lee and said, “That is not my cup of tea” alluding to Thompson’s unique music choices. As Korda revealed why she would not let Thompson touch the aux, Zhang also followed to answer the same. And then came Corpuz. The 2-time US Women’s Open winner’s first choice to avoid giving aux was herself because she felt that not everyone has a similar taste as her. But when she was told by the staff that Thompson listens to Hardrock, she laughingly said, “Oh no way. Can I change my answer to, Lexi?”

It seems that not everyone on Team USA is a fan of Thompson and the songs that she blasts before coming to the course. However, not everyone’s choice was Thompson. Well, it would not be wrong to say that Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin are pretty humble as they chose themselves. On the other hand, Sarah Schmelzel said that she wouldn’t let Ally Ewing on the aux because she is not a fan of Taylor Swift and, per her, “that’s bl-sphemy.” It was the reason why Vu chose herself because she only listens to Taylor Swift. The reason why Schmelzel was Thompson’s choice was because she was a hardcore Taylor Swift fan.

Although many golfers were not there in the video, we for sure know what music Korda’s best friend on the LPGA Tour, Megan Khang, would have liked and the team probably would not have let her get the aux too.

Megan Khang might be next after Lexi Thompson outed

Have an interesting take?

It is all fun and games until Team USA and Team Europe face each other. And nobody is having more fun than the Americans because they surely do know how to have a party. Before the aux dilemma was put in front of the USA golfers, Megan Khang was featured in another video where she showed around the team room.

It had a huge playing area, and a kitchen with beverage selections, and the best part for Khang was the large entertainment area with a karaoke set up. Well, she had to perform a song, and she played her personal favorite, saying it “might annoy a lot of teammates.” She played Miley Cyrus’s 2009 song, Party In the U.S.A., and sang it at the top of her lungs.

As she herself claimed, many teammates might not have liked her song choice. The second one that they would not let touch the aux would probably be Khang. Who do you think has a better music choice in Team U.S.A.? Share it in the comments.
