Is the 2025 Founders Cup unplayable? Golf, in general, has been troubled by challenging weather conditions since the beginning of the year. A few weeks ago, the PGA Tour pros faced the wrath of weather that delayed play in the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open. The American Express also had a few run-ins with strong wind in January 2025. And now, the curse seems to have shifted to the LPGA Tour.

The LPGA Tour is currently hosting the 2025 Founders Cup at the Bradenton Country Club in Florida. The event features the likes of Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, and many other pros from the Tour. Unfortunately, they are all waiting to tee off for the second round of the event. As announced by the LPGA Media’s X account, “The second round of the #FoundersCup presented by USVI is delayed 30 minutes due to fog. An updated will be provided within 30 minutes.” The report confirms that the play for the 2025 Founders Cup has been delayed for the day.

Interestingly, the announcement also suggests that the event officials are still not sure when the play will begin. However, weather reports from a couple of days ago stated that the cloudy weather is only expected to trouble the field during the morning. As we progress towards the afternoon, the weather might get better with bright sunlight covering the field. Hopefully, that will be enough to make the course playable again and for Nelly Korda & Co. to take the field for the day.

The bad conditions shouldn’t come as a surprise to the fans who have been following the event so far. For those who don’t know, the first round of the 2025 Founders Cup was also troubled with fog and bad light. As reported by the same source yesterday, “The first-tee starting times at the Founders Cup presented by USVI are delayed due to fog. The 10th tee starting times are unaffected. An update will come in approximately 10 mins.”

As things stand, Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Jennifer Kupcho are leading the table with a 6-under par 65 each. Both of them showcased incredible performances on the first day of the tournament to tie for the lead. However, they are closely tailed by 3 pros who managed to end the day with a 5-under par 66, Angel Yin, Lauren Coughlin, and Jin Hee Im.

3x winner, Jin Young Ko had a flawless first round to end up with -4 under part 67 at the end of the day. She is tied for 6th with world no. 10 Celine Boutier and others on the leaderboard. And finally, we have Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, and Ayaka Furue who have all managed a score of 3-under par 68. They are placed at T12 with a few other players in the rankings. Interestingly, Lexi Thompson has managed a -2 under par 69 while Lydia Ko had a shocking round with 2 double bogeys and 2 bogeys to end with 3-over par 74. It doesn’t seem like Ko might not be able to make the cut for the weekend.
