Phil Mickelson is one of the most celebrated and richest golfers who signed with the Saudi-backed Tour. In light of the recent deal between LIV Golf and Andalucia, he shared his stance on returning to the PGA Tour during the 2023 Presser. Other established golfers, including Sergio Garcia, have also spoken about how they like their limited tournaments and enjoy the benefits of LIV Golf.

Fans were particularly curious about Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson‘s intentions to play the PGA Tour circuit alongside others who did not break their alliance. With the opportunity to clear things up during the Andalucia and Beyond Press Conference without offending the governing parties, both golfers hinted at their intention to stay put despite the merger.

“I’ve been pretty happy with my decision to be here at LIV. I’ve enjoyed it,” said Koepka when asked if he plans on returning to the PGA Tour in any capacity. “I know I’m happy where I’m at right now, and just take it one day at a time.”

Dustin Johnson, who also recently defected to LIV Golf, shared, “Yeah, I’m excited for the future. I think with this agreement, the only thing that’s going to happen is LIV is going to get even better than what it is now, which it’s already great.

“I’m happy exactly where I am, and I’m definitely not looking to play more golf than I’m playing now, that’s for sure.”

Seems both Cupcake and DJ are in agreement with Lefty and El Nino. The PGA Tour, although a grand and prestigious circuit, seems to have lost its appeal to these Pro golfers. The merger could be a good thing for them as they can pick and choose which tournaments and championships they want to play in while reducing their time on the greens.

Speculations surrounding the future of LIV Golf seem to dissipate

The PIF-backed tour is guided by the Great White Shark, Greg Norman as CEO, whose claims for LIV Golf’s future were supported by Sergio Garcia. The expansion of the Andalucian deal provides some amount of confidence that LIV Golf is not ready to pack up and leave just yet.

The Spaniard, who is thrilled about the new deal with a golf course where he still remains an honorary member, shared a similar view to that of Koepka, Johnson, and Mickelson. He is liking his limited time playing his favorite sport while not allowing the stress to dominate his life.

Of course, no one was explicit with their wish not to return at all to the PGA Tour. Most of these professional golfers seem to miss their friends on the American circuit and would like to play a few games once in a while.
