Caddies in golf are integral to a player’s success. A close game is often sealed with the unerring advice of a caddie. On the other hand, many downplay the role of a caddie as just a bag carrier. However, internet sensation, Paige Spiranac clearly chose her side, as she called out the role of caddies as one of the most prominent factors in a golfer’s success.

Paige Spiranac gives due praise to caddies
Spiranac mentioned her tale with caddies in the most recent episode of her podcast, ‘Playing a Round with Paige Renee.’ She spoke about her recent experience playing at the Ken-Loch Golf Links, which she claimed was “one of the most beautiful golf courses that I have ever played.” The golf beauty was caddied by a member of the course, whose knowledge left Spiranac spell-bounded.

The experience also made Spiranac realize the importance of an experienced caddie. “I value caddie so much and I think they are so greatly important to the success of players on tour,” she said. She further spoke about how the seemingly minor details, such as the choice of golf clubs and the inclination of the greens, made the biggest difference.
“There’s so many times where I don’t have the right yardage or I pick the wrong club, or I don’t take into account the uphill or downhill or the wind,” she complained. However, a knowledgeable caddie would take all the factors into account before advising, which prevents a miserable shot. “Having a caddie really helps all those factors and talking you out of doing stupid shots or picking shots that aren’t going to turn out,” she further added.
Spiranac discloses her inability to read greens
In the same segment, Spiranac revealed the help of a caddie was immense for her putting. She identified herself as a “horrible green reader” who needed the assistance of a caddie on the greens.
“I’m a horrible green reader. Absolutely horrendous. Every putt is straight to me. I don’t know what it is. I just can’t read greens,” she revealed. However, Spiranac also claimed that she was a “really good putter,” so any help from a good caddie was enough to send the ball into the hole.
“Anytime I have a great caddie look out because I’ll make everything because I just need someone to tell me where to hit it,” she claimed.
