‘Need a Lot More’: Scottie Scheffler Spills Beans on How ‘Winning’ Changed His Role in the Much-Awaited Netflix Golf Series

The Netflix golf docuseries, ‘Full Swing’ has been the talk of the town of late. Both the fans and the players are equally excited about the fast-approaching series. Among the many golf pros that it features, Scottie Scheffler also has a role to play. He recently even got candid about why he agreed to appear on the show and how his role had quickly changed.

Since turning pro less than five years ago, the 26-year-old has built up quite a reputation for himself. And extraordinarily, he once even won 3 times in 5 Tour starts boosting both his earnings and rankings.

Scottie Scheffler opens up about his change in roles

Since the series’ trailer was released a month ago, it has gotten a lot of attention in the sports world. Scheffler is one of the top-ranked players that the series features. And in his press conference ahead of the WM Phoenix Open this week, it was all anybody could talk about.

The PGA Tour star stated that he tried to keep as much of his life private as possible. “I wouldn’t say I was a huge part of it,” he stated. “I didn’t give them as much access into my personal life as a lot of guys did.”

Initially, that wasn’t a very big problem for the team, but that all changed when the 4-time PGA Tour victor started quickly gathering wins. “I started winning tournaments and stuff, and they were like, We need a lot more stuff now,” he stated. Overall, despite having trouble balancing it with his life, the 26-year-old had “a lot of fun.”

Scheffler reveals his motive for joining the show

Scheffler was asked also about what led him to be a part of the docuseries, to which his answer was simple. “I think it’s going to be great for the game,” he said. The reigning Masters champion made aspects of his life public for the entire world to see in the interest of the game’s growth and exposure.

The 4-time PGA Tour winner stated that he believed the series would draw in “a whole new audience” towards the sport. “It should be great for our tour and good for the game of golf as well,” stated the golf pro. He was convinced that the sport would benefit from the release of the show. And with the attention it has been getting before its release, he just may be right!
