Charley Hull likes to keep things private. There have been rumors of her relationship with Lee Tomlin and Gaz Beadle in the past. But now, she is in a confirmed happy relationship with T.B. But what she does not hide he how much the couple is in love. A while ago, Hull shared, “Truly been spoilt this year off my baby. Treats me like a princess and is always supportive, love you so much T.B (love and teddy bear emoji) thanks (sic!) you for everything you do for me & family.” Hull’s beau not only spoils her but also motivates her to do better.

During the 2024 Annika, after shooting 6-under, and finishing on top of the leaderboard, she revealed, “I actually had a bet with my boyfriend – every five birdies that I make, we have an extra day on our holiday. So I was trying to make 10 birdies. Hopefully I have more over the weekend and I have a two-week holiday at the end of the year!” Maybe this is what fueled 7 birdies that day. But, this wasn’t the only time T.B. motivated Hull to do better. He did the same thing at the 2025 Ford Championship, and it worked.

During her post-round interview at the FORD Championship, after firing a bogey-free 63 to take the outright lead at -9, Hull revealed the role T.B. played in it.“To be fair, like my boyfriend said to me, what will make me happy is seeing you on the top of the leaderboard and just smashing it. That’s what I had in my head and I just wanted to do like do that,” Hull explained. The encouragement translated directly into her on-course approach at Whirlwind Golf Club. She attacked pins with remarkable confidence throughout her opening round. Her aggressive strategy paid off with eight birdies and perfect greens in regulation stats.

Perhaps this personal support system is precisely what Hull needs right now. Despite consistent top finishes and impressive play, she hasn’t hoisted a trophy since The Ascendant LPGA in October 2023. That frustrating two-year victory drought seems to fuel her determination, where every shot carries the intensity of someone hungry to return to the winner’s circle. The confidence boost helped Hull overcome her typical perfectionist tendencies. Despite sitting atop the leaderboard with a stunning 63, she still pointed out opportunities missed.

“I feel like I left actually a good four shots out there,” she admitted, highlighting several birdie chances that narrowly missed. She even briefly entertained thoughts of shooting a rare 59 during her round. Her preparation was equally impressive and unconventional. “I was up at 2:30 because I wanted to speak to my family back at home, and then I ran just a little 7k and then I had some rowing thresholds to do, and then I trained my lower body,” Hull revealed. She spent from 4:00 until 6:00 AM in the gym before shooting her tournament-leading round.

This strong opening performance at the FORD Championship isn’t occurring in isolation. Hull has been building momentum steadily in 2025. Her results show remarkable consistency with top-15 finishes in all her starts this season. She finished T9 at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and T4 at the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio.

The Englishwoman’s career reached new heights last year when she captured her first major championship at The Chevron. That breakthrough victory validated years of potential that had been evident since her 2016 CME Group Tour Championship win.

Hull’s perfect 18/18 greens in regulation and 79% driving accuracy (11/14 fairways) have been hallmarks of her impressive play at Whirlwind. Interestingly, the birdie barrage runs contrary to her personal preference. “No, I don’t like it. I like the majors when they’re long, hard, and tight. That’s usually my favorite kind of golf,” Hull admitted about the scoring conditions.

With her boyfriend’s encouragement echoing in her mind and her recent form trending positively, Hull has positioned herself as the clear favorite heading into round two. Will this straightforward approach lead to another victory? The weekend will tell, but one thing remains certain – Hull will continue to speak her mind and attack flags regardless of the outcome.
