The name Michael Jordan is enough to give shivers to even well-established athletes outside of basketball as well. The beaming personality of the NBA legend is enough to intimate anyone and set them off their game.

And that is exactly what happened with a PGA Tour caddie who unraveled a very interesting anecdote he got to share with Jordan a long time ago. His story shed light on things “only Jordan can do,” filling both the golf world and the basketball community with intrigue!

PGA Tour’s long-time caddie John Burke recently shared some very interesting PGA stories from his career on the golf podcast GOLF’s Subpar, hosted by Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz. Burke reveals that he was caddying for Brad Faxon at the 1997 Ryder Cup held at Valderrama in Spain, and it was there that he caught the sight of MJ and was immediately starstruck.

Things were fine until then. Burke said that the NBA legend gave him a fist pump, to which Burke confessed that he humiliated himself by giving him the “stupidest fist pump back.” This, in turn, made MJ stare at him awkwardly with a glance that suggested he was a fool. But that just wasn’t the end of it. As the former Chicago Bulls star was sitting next to the water cooler, the caddie rushed over to get water for a very nervous Faxon, and things got even worse!

Burke explained that Jordan’s legs were blocking the cooler, and Burke decided to do something out of bounds in an attempt to be funny. “I hit him as hard as I can in the knees, and I said, ‘Get out of the way,’ and grab the water,” he stated, clearly still embarrassed. But the joke didn’t catch. It didn’t work. It backfired,” he revealed.

And since then, the caddie has had to bear the displeasure and disapproval of the greatest NBA player of all time.

But it looks like Jordan is not one to forget things easily, especially if someone punched his legs even in jest. Burke further revealed that after that incident, he met Michael on some different occasions, and during one of these meetings, he asked the NBA great about it. Unfortunately, time hadn’t healed that.

The caddie’s question had only pushed him deeper into the abyss. “I said, ‘You remember that? And he goes, ‘Yeah, I remember that.’ And he never said anything to me the rest of the day,” he stated. 26 years have passed, but for Burke, the consequences remain the same: the NBA GOAT holds a grudge against him.

It seems like the 6-time NBA Championship winner can not only hold records for many decades but also grudges. And sadly for Burke, he doesn’t seem to have gotten past it. Perhaps he will eventually forgive the PGA Tour caddie for his low blow. But as to when that will be, only time will tell.
