At one point during the third round of the American Century Championship, golf fans erupted into loud cheers. The reason? Steph Curry. So far in his illustrious career, the Golden State Warriors star has made countless staggering shots on the basketball court. On Saturday, he managed to take the golf world by storm as well.

Curry has been a lifelong fan of the sport, and his latest display of golfing chops has the ability to make even pro golfers envious! Let’s jump right in to find out more about the 35-year-old’s heroics in the ongoing celebrity golf tournament.

Steph Curry makes an unbelievable shot at the American Century Championship

There are several pro athletes who often take up golf as a sort of pastime. For 4-time NBA champion Steph Curry, however, the game is definitely an extremely passionate endeavor.

Curry’s love for golf was evidenced by his spirited celebrations after he made a beautiful hole-in-one at the famed Edgewood Tahoe golf course on Saturday. The flawless shot had come on the 152-yard par-3 seventh hole. Curry then took off his hat, held a finger in the air, and dashed to the hole to smack the flag, eventually falling to the ground with sheer joy etched on his face!

So, who is aiding the basketball star in honing his golfing skills? Well, last month, he was working on a new swing with none other than the legendary Butch Harmon!

While Harmon has taught a lot of great golfers over the years, his best protégé to date is the 15-time major winner Tiger Woods. Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Nick Faldo are some of the other notable pros who have worked with him.

Harmon’s teachings will no doubt greatly help Curry cement his place as a two-sport athlete. The basketball star is currently in the lead at the American Century Championship and will be vying to emerge as the winner on Sunday.

Curry leads a celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe

Even before Steph Curry made the hole-in-one in the third round of the American Century Championship, he was already at the helm of the leaderboard. The eight-point ace further increased his chances of winning the tournament this year.

With a score of 50, he is currently three points ahead of Dallas Stars forward Joe Pavelski and former tennis player Mardy Fish. Players in the event also get one point for par, three for birdie, and six for eagle. Meanwhile, two points are deducted for a double bogey or worse.

Ex-baseball star Mark Mulder and actor Jack Wagner were tied for the fourth spot with 38 points. Between each other, Mulder (3) and Wagner (2) have five victories in the tournament. LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam is tied for the eighth spot with 34 points.
