Since 2018, ‘The Match’ has been hosting a series of exhibition golf matches, pitting major professional golfers or notable athletes against each other in a head-to-head competition. The format of the event has changed over time, with three out of five iterations employing a best-ball format, wherein professional golfers are paired with American football quarterbacks or, in some instances, basketball players.
For 2023, The Golden State Warriors duo, consisting of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstars, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

The players of the match were announced and as it turns out, it did not make the fans joyous. The announcement was shared on Instagram and fans left comments stating that they were not happy with the player selection.

Another fan suggested that Mickelson would have been a good choice, “They don’t want @PhilMickelson because he’s killing it right now and would embarrass these guys.”
Finished 35th in his last 48 man event. Did great at the masters but “he’s killing it” is a stretch!
