On Thursday, Charles Barkley took on the role of commentator for Match VIII, and in true Barkley fashion, he kept the witty remarks coming. His humor was on full display when the Golden State Warriors‘ Steph Curry was giving tips to his teammate Klay Thompson.

Having played the sport since he was a child, Curry knows a thing or two about golf. In comparison, 33-year-old Thompson is pretty much a novice. “Probably a little late to be getting lessons,” Barkley hilariously quipped. This led to one of his fellow commentators saying, “This is kinda like watching you and Phil [Mickelson] play.

How did the TNT analyst respond to the jab? “Yeah, Phil held me back,” he confessed. “Wouldn’t let me hit my driver.” The pair of Mickelson and Barkley faced off against Steph Curry and Peyton Manning in “The Match: Champions for Change” in 2020. The LIV pro’s advice must have helped, considering they beat Curry/Manning effortlessly.

That’s gotta be Mike,” he replied just seconds later. Curry had earlier shed light on his plans to torture the analyst, revealing that he wanted to make Barkley his caddie for four hours!
