The PGA Tour star claimed that he shared one of the NBA great’s beliefs on fear. “Kobe Bryant talked about it: Fear is a great motivator,” he stated. “And I think that fear of failure… if you use it in the right way—can be incredibly beneficial to your career.”

He explained that when everything was on the line, like one’s job, then the fear that the person felt could help push them forward. It was also a strong motivator for him. “It makes me want to work harder,” Homa stated. Well, it certainly seemed to be working well for him! Aside from last week’s event, he has one third-place finish and one title this year alone.

Homa reveals the reason behind his recent poor performance

But what then had happened last week at the Phoenix Open? Was it that the six-time PGA Tour victor was still in celebration mode? Not at all! As per Homa, it was just his nerves that had gotten to him. “It makes me, after Torrey, immediately get nervous about going to Phoenix and maybe not playing well,” he stated.

The golf pro had finished 39th on the leaderboard, 7 strokes behind the leader. He knew he could play better than that. But he refused to let the disappointment get to him. Instead, he stated that the loss too would serve as motivation for him. “That keeps me on my toes,” he claimed, talking about his recent performance. “I think all those things become good when you’re using them in the right way.”
