Tiger Woods faced the darkest days of his career during the mid-2010s due to various health issues. His back problems and multiple surgeries led him to struggle to maintain good form. And Chris Como helped him get his swing right during this period.

Como recently started to impart his wisdom through “Private Lessons” as part of the GolfPass Series on NBC Network. And the new episode of the series shows him giving tips to improve the golf swings of the 2-time NBA champion, JR Smith

Chris Como didn’t just give swing lessons to Tiger Woods, he has also been the coach of many famous golfers, including Bryson DeChambeau and Trevor Immelman. Hence, taking swing lessons from him meant so much to JR Smith.

“For me, I think the most appealing part (about taking a lesson from Como) was about like how fast the transition for him to understand,” he revealed during a recent interview. “Like, obviously, everybody doesn’t think the same,” he added, “but to make to feel certain sensations in the golf swing.”

After retiring from NBA star, JR Smith enrolled at North Carolina A&T State University and joined their golf team. It will be wrong to say that he took it to his pass time, as he has been winning accolades because of his interest in college golf. Notably, Smith even won the Academic Athlete of 2021-2022 from his college.

In the interview, Smith admitted that despite playing golf for the last 13 years, he still wasn’t content with his swings before meeting with Como. “He, like, literally taught me how to know down shots,” he added, “…and hit certain shorts to really make more efficient.”

Did Tiger Woods win a major championship while working with Chris Como?

The swing coach started working with the legendary golfer in 2014. Notably, Como met Woods during one of the lowest phases of his life. His major duty while working for the golfer was to incorporate his old swing style from the early 2000s and create a different action that would work for his game and health issues.

The three years he worked for Woods were like an experimental time. Hence, he didn’t win a major title throughout this time. However, he won it a couple of years after parting ways with Como.
