Athletes often draw inspiration from their predecessors. The bigger the name of a sport, the more people it has inspired. As a result, there are probably few golfers who have served as an inspiration to others more than Phil Mickelson. The golf legend has inspired generations of golfers and continues to do so. Among them is two-time PGA Tour winner Brian Harman, who admires Mickelson for his accomplishments at Augusta.

The six-time major winner has won all the majors except for the US Open, which seems to elude him every time. In 2021, he won the PGA Championship for the second time, becoming the oldest player to do so, again inspiring millions.

He said, “I think watching Phil win his first one is probably my fondest memory being a left-handed guy and watch him get that monkey off his back so to speak.” Harman, who himself is an ambidextrous golfer, loved seeing right-handed Phil Mickelson win while playing with his left.

In April 2004, Mickelson was neck-to-neck in competition with Ernie Els at the Augusta National. After three bogies in the first nine holes, Lefty finally pulled up his socks. He holed three consecutive birdies on the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes, and then made another on the 16th hole. This brought him on par with Els’ score.
