Ever gotten so caught up in the moment that you let an F-bomb slip? Well, Billy Horschel sure has—and honestly, who could blame him? After sinking a clutch putt at TGL, he tossed his club in the air and let the emotions take over and screamed, “My F-ing house!” Because when you prove the doubters wrong in style, it just hits different.
For most of the night, New York controlled the match. They were up 3-2 on the 14th hole when Atlanta decided to go all in, throwing a “hammer” challenge to double the stakes. Rickie Fowler—Horschel’s direct opponent—found himself in a bunker but recovered beautifully, landing just 4 feet from the pin. Meanwhile, Horschel had an 18-foot putt, one that demanded flawless precision. And then? Pure. Chaos. The second he struck the ball, he knew it was in. As it rolled straight into the cup, Horschel bolted off the green, tossed his putter and hat, and screamed at the top of his lungs: “My fucking house!” He blacked out in the moment—his words, not ours.
“Two feet out I knew it was in the hole, and I blacked out,” Horschel later admitted. Even ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt couldn’t resist asking him what exactly happened. “I don’t remember throwing the putter down, and I remember saying it was my effin’ house. That was it. And I said it repeatedly multiple, multiple times. Sorry, Jeff, hopefully you hit that eight-second delay button on there,” Horschel responded.

And if the win wasn’t satisfying enough, the moment he walked into the media center, his first words were: “Where’s Kyle Porter?” wrote the PGA Tour Staff writer Paul Hodowanic on his X handle.

Billy Horchel’s clapback to doubters
Now for the unversed, CBS Sports analyst Kyle Porter had picked Rickie Fowler over Horschel in their singles showdown, despite Horschel leading the league in singles points. That prediction did not sit well with him, and he made sure to make Porter eat his words. With everything on the line, Horschel delivered. A pinpoint tee shot on the 14th hole set up a cold-blooded birdie, bringing the match to 5-5.
And after the Monday round, he had something to say: “I mean, I love going head-to-head with somebody. It’s who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the victory. Then there was a guy by the name of Kyle Porter who had picked against me the entire year in the singles portion. Up until last week, I had won every one of them. Obviously Min Woo made a putt on me the second time we played on hole No. 14 to beat me if you could. It’s a long track, and hopefully, it’s not too windy. But yeah, I hope you have fun and put stuff on my tab if you’d like.” Basically he said that doubt me again, I dare you.

With Atlanta Drive’s 4-3 comeback victory, they walked away with $9 million, split among Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, and Lucas Glover (who was inactive for this match). New York had to settle for $4.5 million, shared between Cameron Young, Fowler, Xander Schauffele, and Matt Fitzpatrick.
But for Horschel, the money was just a bonus. He didn’t just shut down the doubters—he owned the moment, club toss and all. Now, everyone knows exactly who’s in charge.
