After withdrawing from last week’s Hero World Challenge, Tiger Woods failed to mark his second win at Capital One’s The Match. He and his partner, Rory McIlroy, couldn’t catch up with Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas at Pelican Golf Club in Florida. Although the latter pair dominated from the start, the spectators could witness the G. O. A. T. becoming better and better with each shot.

Woods had been the most important topic of discussion in the golf community since his withdrawal from the tournament he hosted last week. “I can hit the golf ball and hit whatever shot you want. I just can’t walk.” This one sentence was more than enough for the fans to look forward to his first start in Florida since the 150th Open Championship.

Tiger Woods began the 2021-2022 season by competing at the Masters Tournament in Augusta National. Notably, he was not confident with his game and health then, as it was the first official event since his 2021 car crash. More than six months later, during the Hero World Challenge press meet, he claimed that only his health is an issue now, and his game is intact.

As a viewer can see in the highlight video on YouTube, he had a rocky start at the event he once had won with former NFL star quarterback Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. However, he began to pick up momentum after the first five holes.

Even though Woods showed confidence in his game at the Albany GC last week, he revealed during the pre-interview on Saturday that he hasn’t played in two and a half weeks. For a golfer with health issues who hasn’t been practicing lately, the 82-time PGA champion played well at the 12-hole competition.
