Is the Bryson DeChambeau and John Daly collab a game-changer or just a publicity stunt?

You might see Bryson DeChambeau and John Daly pairing up soon. The duo—two generational long hitters—have come together for the ‘Break 50’ challenge. After his collab with Donald Trump, the current U.S. Open champion asked on X (formerly Twitter) who should be brought for the next clip. Daly replied, “LFG (Let’s F**** Go).”

The prospect was lucrative for fans. DeChambeau later replied, “Let’s give the people what they want.” Now NuclrGolf shared some pictures from the upcoming video. They shot the episode at Old Hickory CC, per reports.

John Daly is quite fond of the reigning U.S. Open champion, who has a propensity for distance like him. Recalling a conversation they had some years ago, Daly said in a recent interview, “Bryson gave me the greatest compliment. He said, ‘I hope when I’m 56 years old, I’ll be swinging like you.’” Moreover, the two-time major champion said Bryson DeChambeau calls him ‘Daddy’.

Daly, in his heyday, was one of the longest hitters on Tour and maintained that streak for a whopping 21 years. From 1991 to 2012, Daly averaged over 300 yards, his best being 314.3 yards in the 2003 season.

For comparison, in 2003, the average driving distance on the PGA Tour was 287.5 yards; there were only nine players who shot over 300 yards. Even last year, the Tour average was 299.9 yards. Needless to say, the confluence of two of the longest hitters in golf has sent the fans into a frenzy.

Have an interesting take?

The comments on the Internet reveal John Daly can still capture the imagination of the golf community. At 58, he is far removed from his best days. A series of withdrawals due to injuries have plagued him. Yet, Daly remained an absolute favorite among fans.

One user tweeted, “Anything with JD will be great. This will be an awesome watch.” “Must see TV!!!,” another user chimed in. In the pictures, Daly was seen pouring something into a paper cup for DeChambeau. Now the former Open champion, notorious for his fast-lane lifestyle, boasts of having an alcohol line on his name. One user sarcastically wrote, “Aw that’s so nice. John is giving Bryson a Pepsi.

Interestingly, in another picture, Daly was seen walking on the grass barefoot. At this age, Daly can hardly shoot bombs like he did even a decade ago. But that didn’t stop an eagle-eyed fan from dubbing the 58-year-old “BAREFOOT BOMBER!!!

Some were wondering how many views this would get. One user noted, “Can’t wait, but hard to top President Trump!” Bryson DeChambeau’s collaboration with former POTUS was viewed over 10 million times within a week of posting. His subscriber count crossed over 1 million from around 870K within 12 hours.

Arguably, it’ll remain the most-watched video on his channel. Regardless, one user opined the Daly collab would get more views than the Olympics golf men’s event, which didn’t have Bryson DeChambeau on the Team USA roster. “Will probably get more views than the Olympic golf match,” one of them commented. Per reports, the Golf Channel averaged 427,000 viewers through four rounds. The numbers were down from Tokyo’s 672,000 and Rio’s 576,000. However, it should be noted that the Tokyo Olympics fell in primetime for East Coast viewers. Whereas, the Sunday round at the Men’s event teed off at 6.39 AM ET.
