Beyond PGA Tour events, a new league has dominated headlines since the start of the year. It’s not Greg Norman’s LIV Golf, but Tiger Woods’s TGL. The Sofi-presented league debuted last week, and, as expected, Woods put in a stunner. TGL garnered an impressive 3.2 million views on its opening night. According to Zoomph, the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy event was the most-watched sporting event that night, surpassing NBA and College Hoops viewership.

This was huge considering the PGA tour’s viewership drought. However, you might think this was obvious considering the league’s star power. But that was not the case. TGL faced criticism from the start, with many questioning its non-traditional matches, ticket prices, and doubts about its overall success. But one aspect drew consistent criticism: the big screen and tech-infused greens.

But it looks like Woods, and McIlroy did not give much value to those words. Instead, they focused on their goal of attracting a younger audience to golf. Another key objective was to reduce match times, considering people’s dwindling attention spans.

You might think this success was a cakewalk, given TGL’s existing popularity, but think again! Because this time the marketing and PR team played a significant role in making it happen. This is evident from a recent reel posted by Tiger Woods’s TGL team – Jupiter Links Golf Club.

The LAGC will face off against Tiger Woods‘s team on January 14th. Just before that, the JLGC dropped an unexpected BTS reel that left fans laughing in shock! In the short video, Tom Kim interviewed the 15-time major winner, asking several questions. But the most astonishing moment came when Kim burst out laughing, exclaiming, “I can’t believe you made Tiger say that!”

During the interview, PGA Tour pro Tom Kim asked Woods about the Jupiter Links Golf Club, inquiring, “What is Jupiter Links’ secret weapon: strategy, swagger, or something else?” Woods, the golf world’s GOAT, smirked and replied, “We got a lot of swag, don’t we?” He added, “We’re good on the swag game.”

But Woods wasn’t done yet. He took a surprising turn, saying, “Well, it’s not a strategy.” Pausing for comedic effect, he dropped the bombshell, “It’s Rizz, baby!” Emphasizing the point, he repeated, “We got Rizz, we got RIZZ.” As the video went viral, it gained over 10K likes and above 165K views in just eight hours and the fans had a lot to say about it!

As the reel reached golf fans, they were nothing less than getting stunned. One fan exclaimed, “Bro, that sounded like a voiceover, even though I watched him say it!” Another fan commented, “Never in a million years would I have thought I’d hear Tiger say that.”

A golf enthusiast drew parallels with Woods’ past jokes, saying, “Trying to avoid all jokes about Tiger’s past discrepancies and him saying they have Rizz.” Now before you google to search out his past controversies around jokes, let’s revisit an iconic moment.

In 2021, shortly after his car crash, the 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods playfully placed a tampon on Justin Thomas‘s head during a game in Pacific Palisades. Thomas, who was in Woods’ grouping along with Rory McIlroy in Pacific Palisades, swiftly threw it away on the ground. Although meant as a joke, this act irked multiple fans worldwide regarding Tiger Woods’s prank.

This shocking moment stunned fans, much like his recent “Rizz” comment, which sparked reactions like “No way!” One fan even joked, “Must be Charlie’s favourite word for dad to say Rizz out loud,” referring to the word’s popularity among kids today. And you know Charlie is just 15 and in high school. Plus, he shares a great bond with his dad.
