The troubles for the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship seem to be unending. From withdrawals due to injury, terrible weather conditions, and disqualification, it had seen everything before the golfers could finish teeing off the first thirty-six holes. As the 132 players finished the round on Saturday, the troubles were far from over. There were other withdrawals too, further taking a toll on the field.

Take Luke Donald, for example. He posted rounds of 72-69, finishing with a two-day total of 3 under, one shot clear of the 36-hole cut at 2 under. In the third round, he was even par through 13 holes after starting on hole 10, with three birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey before withdrawing from the tournament. In six previous 2024 starts, Donald’s T-68 finish at the PGA Championship was his only made cut. This week in Mexico was the second event that saw him advance to the weekend round.

After the third round on Saturday, the PGA Tour Communications took to their official X account and reported the news. Luke Donald (back injury) is a WD during the third round of the World Wide Technology Championship.” And well, that was not just all for the blow before the final round. They made another announcement online sometime later. “Trace Crowe is a WD following his third round of the World Wide Technology Championship,” the page reported.

Luke Donald has some history with a bad back. In 2020, he spoke about doubting his return to his original level of game as from 2017-2020, he missed more cuts than he had made. In 2018, his back got worse as herniated L4 and L5 disks forced him to spend almost an entire year on the sidelines, during which time he underwent stem-cell therapy.

“Some people have had very similar injuries and it has been the end of their career. Surgery was never really on the table for me. You try and avoid that at all costs. I never had pain going down my leg, which is probably a sign that you need some kind of surgery to fix it. There were times when I questioned whether I’d come back, was it ever going to get better, all that kind of stuff,” said Donald to Golf Week, 4 years ago.

And well, as it turns out, even the Sunday round, which is scheduled to begin in a few hours at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal golf course within the Diamante Cabo San Lucas resort, is not free from disasters occurring. 2024 World Wide Technology Championship to expect brutal rain on Sunday?

After the first round of the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship was suspended due to darkness, leaving three players yet to tee off, at least Mother Nature did not flap its wings and interrupt the other two rounds. However, as it turns out, Sunday might be pleasant too. The cloud cover is predicted to be around 9%.

There is just a 1% chance of rainfall during the final round which will obviously not be the main obstacle that the championship will be looking forward to. While the other elements are not much to worry about, once in a while, wind gusts might cause slight derailing of the balls, as it is expected to come at a speed of up to 10 km/h.

The final round with a three-way tie between Justin Lower, Carson Young, and Nico Echavarria is not to be missed. What do you think the players have in fate at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship? Let us know in the comments section below!
