Family has a pivotal role in shaping everybody’s life and career. So is the case with LPGA phenom Lexi Thompson, whose grandmother played a vital role in encouraging her to play golf in her nascent years, and now this star golfer is representing her country on the Spanish greens.

But the person who had been dearest to the golfer won’t be able to witness Thompson’s performance in the international tournament. Yes, her grandmother, Dorothy Fischi, popularly known as Mimi, passed away last year a week before the US Women’s Open because of natural causes at the age of 92.

The 28-year-old golfer’s latest story on her Instagram makes it evident that Mimi still holds a greater part in the LPGA phenom’s life. In the story, Thompson wrote, “Happy heavenly birthday to Mimi. Miss you so much but I know you are with me every day.”

Alongside this message, Thompson also posted a picture of her with Mimi, along with Thompson’s mother, Judy. Months before this, a fan’s heartwarming gesture made Lexi Thompson emotional.

It was around the month of May when Lexi Thompson participated in the Cognizant Founders Cup. Despite the fact that she had a poor start to the game, she received a loving gift from one of the fans, which compensated for the on-course disappointment
