The worst nightmare for fans of the PGA Tour is finally coming true. Following the news of American golfers, Dustin Johnson and Kevin Na, resigning from the PGA, more players have followed them down the same path. The players took this decision in order to play in the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

According to the reports, Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia has resigned from the Tour to play for the Saudi-backed league. Additionally, the South African golfer trio of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, and Branden Grace have also resigned. Their resignation came after the Tour decided to take disciplinary actions against them for playing in the league.

A week ago, LIV Golf had released its field for the inaugural event of the Invitational Series, which included many players from the Tour. Notably, the list was released after the Tour rejected the players’ application for a release

And the American golf organization responded to it by deciding to take disciplinary actions against the players. The new decision of the PGA led the players, who had already joined LIV Golf, to take extreme measures and resign from the Tour.

Notably, Kevin Na was the first to reveal that he resigned from the Tour. The golfer posted a statement through social media to let his fans know about his decision.

Following Na, Johnson informed fans of his decision to resign from the Tour. “For right now, I’ve resigned my membership on the tour,” the former World No. 1 said at the press meet before the league. “I’m going to play (LIV Golf) for now. That’s the plan,” Johnson firmly stated. According to him, he will only play in the LIV events and the majors.

Has Phil Mickelson also resigned from the PGA Tour like Dustin Johnson and others?

Unlike Garcia, Johnson, and others, Phil Mickelson wasn’t a part of the league when the officials released its first field of players. However, LIV Golf released the final field recently, which comprised his name. As news broke out, the golfer also released a statement through social media.
