Is Rickie Fowler's comeback a sign of a major turnaround or just a desperate move?

The wait is over golf fans! Spectators have been waiting for what seems like ages now for their favorite golfer to make a comeback and it’s finally happening. Yes, PGA Tour Pro Rickie Fowler is ready to rule the greens once again. According to the latest post on the Rickie Fowler Tracker, the golfer will be putting an end to his absence at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship, which is later this week.

Fowler’s 2024 golf season took a hit when he skipped some of the major key tournaments like the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship. The golfer knew what was at risk but he chose to skip the tournaments anyway. Ultimately, he failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Additionally, Fowler also missed the recent Procore Championship.

The reason behind Rickie Fowler’s unannounced absence from recent golf tournaments could be because of the new member of his family. The 35-year-old golfer and his wife, Allison welcomed their second child recently. The pair had a baby girl named Nellie and Fowler shared the heartwarming news on Instagram, posting a photo of his growing family, captioned “My Family!! Right where I’m supposed to be. Welcome to the crew, Nellie.” So maybe the player was indeed where he was supposed to be.

The golfer had also announced to compete at the $8.5 million event later this year. The Zozo Championship will start from October 24-27 at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Japan, so there’s still time for that. Nevertheless, golf fans are excited to see the golfer showcase his skills at the Country Club of Jackson this week. This might be Fowler’s last chance to save his drowning career after his last win in the 2023 season.

Have an interesting take?

In an extremely thrilling conclusion, Rickie Fowler claimed his sixth PGA Tour victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on July 3, 2023, by edging out competitors in a three-man playoff. The amazing moment came when Fowler sunk a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole and sparked a feeling of relief among fans. This win marked Fowler’s first title since 2019 and helped him climb back into the top 25 of the Official World Golf Ranking. It was his eighth top-10 finish of the season, his most in six years. Fowler’s resurgence propelled him to eighth in the FedEx Cup standings.

However, the feat was utterly short-lived as the golfer lost his golden spot soon after a terrible 2024 season, where he is yet to secure a spot in the top 10. The golfer’s OWGR rankings have significantly dropped pushing him out of the top 60, at the 67th spot. So, do you think the golfer can seek redemption this week at the Sanderson Farms Championship?
