There are very few golfers who can say that they beat a record set by the infamous Tiger Woods. Viktor Hovland is one of the few young Pros on the PGA Tour to have claimed that victory.

During the 2023 Masters at Augusta, the Norwegian golfer played on the same team as Woods and scored the lowest 65 with five birdies and an eagle shot in the first round. However, what truly drew the attention of the golfing community was his off-beat fashion sense. Hovland showed up in a J. Lindeberg shirt that fans deemed ‘atrocious’ for the prestigious event.

Undeterred by the comments instigated by his choices, Hovland may have decided on yet another bright flavor of the month for his appearance at Royal Liverpool. The two-time Mayakoba Golf Classic winner has chosen another vibrant J. Lindeberg polo shirt for the Open Championship as per NUCLRGOLF’s Tweet.

Whether he plans on wearing the design on opening day or over the weekend after making the cut is unknown. Nevertheless, whenever he plans on donning the $116 outfit, it is already instigating reactions from golf fans all around the world.

Hovland’s choice of attire receives mixed reactions

Earlier this year, when Viktor Hovland chose the Azelean shirt, many fans loved his boldness. Some said it looked like fire, while others applauded his striking selection of wardrobe. But not all fans were happy. Some even mocked saying he must have thrown it in with a few markers, while one fan commented “Hard No!”

This time around, once again fans are taking to Twitter to comment on his unique choice. Some are mocking his selection, comparing it to a mariachi outfit while others expressed their feelings with a memes.

There are also those who remember his explanation as per Golf Monthly. He said, “I wear a lot of gray, black, and that’s about it.” But the reason he wears the J. Lindberg shirts on the golf course is, “They give me this stuff and pay me money to do so, so I just show up and wear what they want me to wear.”

Hopefully, when he finally shows up at Royal Liverpool, fans will be less critical of his current attire than they were of his shirt at the Augusta National.
