The golf world is witnessing rapid changes. Things have never been as uncertain as they are now. And the changes do not limit themselves to the players, especially considering the LIV Golf and PGA Tour merger still has not revealed significant details. The changing landscape has led a former PGA Tour star to ask a burning question.
The American golfer is a 14-time PGA tour winner. Of late, he has been in the news for his unabashed opinions and tweets about the golfing world today and from his time as a professional golfer. His question has the golf world wondering if it is leaning toward greed.

In a Twitter post, Golf Today posted a video of Hal Sutton in conversation with Damon Hack. Hal Sutton spoke about his intention toward golf and what he thinks is becoming of it today. He brings forward his journey as a golfer. He referred to his hip replacement surgery, the pain of which affected his swing for three-long years.
“I see a lot of greed, to be honest with you. You know I wore out two hips and a left knee walking to charity as the biggest winner every week. And I pray that the PGA Tour does not lose that,” he said. He also received the Payne Stewart Award in 2007 for his charitable efforts.
“You know, I was proud to be part of that. I was proud that we weren’t trying to get every dollar we could get, but it feels that way now. I could never never imagine saying that I don’t love golf. I am only playing because I was good at it. I could never imagine saying that!! And it’s just a different world. Like I said, I am not sure if I know golf anymore.”
"I see a lot of greed."

Sutton’s remarks can trigger intense thinking about what is happening to the golf world today. Didn’t a similar debate emerge in relation to the LIV Golf? Do you think Hal Sutton has a point?
Did the PGA Tour pro indirectly point at LIV Golf?
Last year, many PGA Tour players left that boat to join the Saudi-backed LIV League. The new league faced a lot of backlash, and so did the players. And now PGA Tour and LIV League are discussing a merger, which again has sparked flak toward the Tour leadership.

However, as Hal Sutton pointed out the need to get one’s hands on every possible dollar, a similar conversation was sparked when players like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Brooks Koepka joined the LIV Golf.
Phil Mickelson signed a lucrative $200 Million deal with LIV golf. He once opened up about why he left the PGA tour. He stated that LIV has the potential to grow the game worldwide. And another reason was that the format of the new league is such that it targets a younger audience.
Dustin Johnson bagged a deal of $150 Million and stated his family as one of the significant reasons to jump ship. At the same time, Brooks Koepka was one of the first few players to join the Saudi-backed league and signed a $100 Million contract. He stated that he was pleased with the decision he had made.
