How did DeChambeau’s father inspired his weight-loss?
The 29-year-old golfer lost his father, Jon DeChambeau, in November 2022, who passed after a long battle with kidney disease. His father also suffered from diabetes. Seeing him suffer for decades and go through constant dialysis towards the end had a huge lasting impact on the one-time major champion.
When questioned in the pre-match interview of LIV’s DC event about his reshaping and how it surprised him, the golfer said his inspiration to reduce weight and be in better shape came from his father. Seeing his father go down the rabbit hole of eating junk food and then struggling with his health was a real eye-opening experience for DeChambeau.
He claimed that witnessing his father’s health issues made him realize that that could just as easily be him. “I could end up in that same situation if I keep eating poorly, and even if I’m trying to be healthy and getting stronger and bigger and whatnot, that’s not always necessarily the best thing for the body.”
He also opened up about the changes he faced after bulking up, like fatigue, head fog, and skin problems. It wasn’t long before he came to the conclusion that those issues were not “that healthy.”
The change of course wasn’t easy for the 2020 US Open champion. Only recently has he opened up about what exactly he had to cut out of his diet in the past few months in order to get to where he is today. And boy, does it sound rough!

After the first round of the PGA Championship was concluded, the golfer opened up about how he slimmed down. After conducting a Zoomer peptide test, he found out that he was allergic to many foods, such as wheat, gluten, corn, and dairy. He claimed that he had to give up almost everything he liked, but as a result, he felt better and his inflammation had disappeared. “I’ve lost all this inflammation, lost a lot of fat, and slimmed down like crazy,” he stated gladly.
