The LPGA Tour had its second-last major, the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, on the Baltusrol Lower Course. While Yin Ruoning was the winner of the tournament, Irish professional golfer Stephanie Meadow, also secured the T3 position with a total of 6-under par. The LPGA star had a close miss there. Now, after the Women’s PGA Championship and US Women’s Open, the focus is on the next major on the LPGA Tour, the Amundi Evian Championship.

Alongside the best golfers from all around the world, Meadow will also be vying for a major win at the Evian Resort Golf Club this weekend. Thus, ahead of the championship, this star player made a bold statement that shook the golf world.

Stephanie Meadow had an outstanding performance in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She just lost with a difference of just 2 points, and had been exceptional with her birdies throughout the match. And now that she is heading toward her next major, her confidence reflects through her words, as she has been executing her game properly so far. 

In an interview, she said,I mean, to be in contention, you see that things are on the right track.Thus, she reflected on the fact that, since her gameplay was going in the right direction, she was quite satisfied with herself. 

She further said, and the things I’m working on are obviously working, so obviously that’s a confidence boost. To play in the final group at a major and play well and be in contention, so if you can do it once, you can do it again.”

She reflects on her performance in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and considered it to be a confidence boost, and since she did play well previously this year, she can definitely do it again.

Stephanie Meadow’s performance in the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

Meadow’s KPMG performance was indeed stellar. Her T3 position came along with excellence in her improved putting skills. And she had to miss the first position just by two points, where her score was 6-under. The first round started off modestly, and her score was also 73 on a 71-par course. Then, in round 2, the birdies on the 4, 7, 11, and 18 holes landed her with a score of 68.

Again, in round 3, the successful five birdies worked in her favor, and she ended up at 67 by the end of the round. Lastly, in round four, she finished with 70. Thus, it is to be seen if Meadow can bring back her fiery self at the Evian Resort Golf Club and finally win the first major of this year.
