Scottie Scheffler's son stealing the show—Is this the most adorable moment in golf this year?

Golf isn’t just about intense competition; it’s also about deep camaraderie. That has once again been proven at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns’ friendship is not unknown to the golf world. They have been best friends since their teenage years, and they have also played professional golf on the PGA Tour with and against each other for as long as anyone can remember.

Despite the competitive setting, Burns took on uncle duties, watching from the sidelines with three-month-old baby Bennet on his lap as he cheered for Scheffler, who teed off alongside Xander Schauffele.

The official Instagram account of the PGA Tour took to its wall and shared snippets of the duo off the course. While the first picture was a close-up of Burns raising baby Bennett in the air as Scheffler hit the bomb, for a better view, the second was that of the entire scenario. They even captioned it, “Uncle Sam making sure Bennett gets a great view of Dad.”

Pretty much immediately after the post, even the world’s No. 1 ended up sharing it on his Instagram story and wrote, “Uncle Sam putting in the work.” The wholesome moment in Memphis caught the attention of the entire golf community, and they were left completely in awe of Burns’ responsibility for Scottie Scheffler’s kid.

Sam Burns and baby Bennett become easily the cutest uncle-nephew duo in the golf world

St. Jude Championship has faced its fair share of drama lately. From Scottie Scheffler banging his clubs in the opening round out of frustration, Brian Harman hurling his golf club out of disappointment and getting hit back in his face, and players expressing their disappointment for the FedEx Cup format. Amidst all the tension, Sam Burns and baby Bennett’s interaction during Scottie Scheffler’s gameplay on Friday was indeed a breath of fresh air and was exceptionally wholesome. Taking to this, one of them commented, “This might be the most adorable thing to ever happen on Tour”.

Both the players had a great second round. While Sam Burns ended the day in third place on the leaderboard with a 10-under, Scheffler was just one stroke behind him in fourth place with a 9-under. For the third round, Scheffler will be teeing off with Justin Rose and Nick Dunlap, the second-last pair teeing off from the front nine at 10:05 GMT. And Sam Burns is in the last group, right after him, to be teeing off from the front nine, with Denny McCarthy and Hideki Matsuyama.

Taking to this, one of them even commented, “And they are playing together tomorrow”.

Sam Burns also welcomed his son Bear, who was born on April 22, just a few days before Scheffler welcomed his son Bennett. While baby Scheffler has been seen around the golf course, baby Burns has yet to grace the greens. But one thing is for sure: when he does, all eyes will be on the Burns family!

Another golfer was added to Bennett’s list of uncles — The world no. 2 Xander Schauffele. Despite the fierce competition on the course, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are friends off the course as well. The world’s No. 1 was even seen praising the latter’s work ethic at the opening round presser on Thursday. Taking to the closely knit relationships of the golfers, one of them commented, “So Sam Burns got his kid and Scottie’s kid to take care of and then there’s uncle Xander too😂”.

Bennett Scheffler is just three months old, and he has already appeared several times on the golf course to watch his dad play. He was also spotted with Meredith at the Travelers Championship, where Scheffler lifted the trophy with his baby and wife by his side. Taking to this, one of them commented, “This is so cute! Bennett is certainly growing up on the course and has logged more miles than most adults already. Go Scottie ❤️”

Not many golfers prefer bringing their kids to the golf courses due to the ever-changing weather, which could affect their health. However, few players like LIV Golfer Brooks Koepka, and Scottie Scheffler don’t seem to mind having their kids cheering for them. Taking to this, one of them humorously commented, “Feels like Scottie’s the only person ever to have a child🤣🤣”.
