Besides his golf persona, John Daly also has an excellent musical taste. His fans know how much ‘Long John’ loves music and grabs every chance to showcase his singing skills. Next month, the bad boy of golf is ready to enchant his fans with a musical night at a headline concert.

The Claret Jug winner has been announced as the opening act of a concert at Stanford International. Joining him on the stage would be famous American country singer, Jake Owen, who has recently made news about inspiring Taylor Swift’s song.

Country singer Jake Owen himself is a huge golf fan and has often been spotted playing at courses. The singer who released his latest album, Loose Cannon, has received more limelight about an inspiration for one of the tracks on Taylor Swift’s earlier album.

Daly, who has released three albums of his own in the past, will be performing the opening act at the forthcoming Sanford International event on 15th September. The Sanford International is a premier tournament on the PGA Tour Champions and the 2 times major champion will be playing at the event too.

Besides his performance, Daly has another link to the event. It is being sponsored by Good Boy Vodka, which is also backed by Daly and has a special lemon flavor cocktail after him.

Owen will be looking to hit the ground running after the opening by Daly. But how did the 42-year-old disrupt melophiles with alleged Taylor Swift claims recently?

Is Taylor Swift’s new song directed towards Owen?

Along with running her ultra-successful Eras Tour, Swift is also re-recording her older albums and reclaiming her old works. On the 7th of July, she released Speak Now (Taylor’s version) which instantly became a huge hit. And eagle-eyed fans were quickly set to decoding what each song meant and who is it about.

Her hit track from the album Sparks Fly was highly rumored to be about Jake Owen with whom she once played on a stage 17 years ago in Portland, Oregon. After the release of the album, Owen was interviewed by People magazine while he was playing at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. 

In his defense, Owen denied that the song was about him. “I’m sure Taylor probably laughs at it all too, but I’m happy to even have my name in the discussion around it.”

Nonetheless, now that Daly is in good health, his fans can’t wait to see him showcasing his multiple talents together on the green soon.
