Only a few hours are left for the much-heralded Ryder Cup to begin. With that, the foursome pairings for Friday’s morning session are also out for both Europe and the USA. A few of the popular golfers like Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Brooks Koepka, will not be featuring in the opening session.
In the wake of these decisions on the part of Zach Johnson, a dear friend of Tiger Woods has suffered a major blow.

One of Tiger Woods’s close friends is Fred Couples, and the duo share a fond relationship. Once before the Masters Tournament, Fred was asked about his closeness with the Hall of Famer. To which, he disclosed they like talking to each other.
The vice-captain of the American Ryder Cup team even said they both discussed their children, and Tiger shared a lot about Charlie with Fred. The golfers definitely share an intimate bond.
Fred, who is one of the vital minds on Johnson’s team, appears the butt of a joke in the lead-up to the Ryder Cup. Though not direct, a disclosure in an interview session by Johnson created quite an embarrassment for Couples.
In the interview, Johnson was told that Couples once famously made a statement about Cameron Newman being on the team. Also, that Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth will be playing in four sessions but neither of them was part of the morning foursomes pairings for Friday. To this, Johnson made a hilarious comment, ” Well, maybe you shouldn’t believe everything Fred says (laughter).”
Jokes aside, but Zach Johnson has taken a lot of trouble for Justin Thomas. Not that he wanted to.

He confessed, “He has all the intangibles and the innate ability to rally guys around him and be a leader vocally but also without having to say much”. But was that the only reason? No. He continued, “Those guys were, you know, adamant they wanted those six other guys to help complete their team, and J.T. was one of them. Before quickly adding, I’m not saying that that was my persuasion to pick him, but that was part of it.”
