After the Women’s Open gave the golf world its third major champion of the year, with the Evian Championship women’s golf got its fourth major champion just hours ago and it is Celine Boutier.
After her win, Celine has a long line of well-wishers congratulating her on this big achievement and joining that list is an LPGA legend who herself has numerous wins credited to her name.

Winning a major championship is the biggest achievement for any golfer who cherished this dream for a long time. And France’s Céline Boutier’s dream came true as she won her first major, and the biggest yet of her career, the Amundi Evian Championship. With this, she became the first French woman to win a major on French soil, a big feat to brag about. And as Celine enjoys this magnificent win she has been joined in the felicitations by none other than Annika Sorenstam.
Besides being an amazing golfer, Sorenstam is also very active on social media. After Celine’s big win, she took the occasion to praise the rising star of golf.

Annika posted a picture of the digital scoreboard of the event which shows the final result and tagged Celine. This post would make Boutier’s day. After all, earning the approval of a golf legend is a big achievement in itself. The 29-year-old has been an excellent performer all her career and since 2019 she has made a top 10 finish in each of the women’s major events. Only Evian was left out and she ticked that box too by winning it.

Celine was among one of the best golfers in Amundi this week. During the third round on Saturday, she shot four-under 67 and took a three-shot lead for the final round. Come Sunday, she held tight to her leading position. She made a six-shot victory and finished the event with 68.
With this win, Celine became the become France’s fourth major-winning golfer of all time. After the win Boutier said. “It’s honestly been my biggest dream since I started watching golf. This tournament has always been very special to me, just even watching as a teenager. Just to be able to hold this trophy is pretty unbelievable.”
She also thanked her family for their support. She said “They helped me stay grounded. It’s really sweet to be able to share it with them. I wouldn’t be here without them.” Boutier gets to take home the first prize of $1,000,000 out of the $6.5 million prize purse.
