While Celine Boutier showcased how beautifully French greens could be dominated at the 2023 Amundi Evian Championship, there were other golf stars who followed with a display of a skillful hold on the challenging course. One of these high-octane performances came from the LPGA cover girl, Nelly Korda‘s clubs.

However, the scores weren’t enough for Korda to dethrone Boutier from her position and claim the $1 million winner’s prize. She settled for a T9 finish along with Rose Zhang, and Megan Khang. Nevertheless, the bright side of the picture was that despite losing the distinguished victory, she managed to register her name for an equally prestigious accolade.

This crown was handed over to the LPGA icon after her 2023 Amundi Evian Championship finish of T9. Exemplifying the same, Korda was able to overthrow Jin Young Ko from her position and reacquire the World No.1 crown. The latter finished the fourth women’s golf major at T20.

Nelly Korda’s reattainment of the World No.1 spot is the fifth time for the professional. Prior to this, the American golfer found herself in the second position post the 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup. She was replaced by the Korean icon, Jin Young Ko, on May 22, 2023, who had won the $3 million event. These dynamics followed for some time as Nelly Korda suffered quite a few hitches in the coming months.

Prior to the exceptional display of her skills, Korda was certainly having a hard time on the greens. Her game seemed a little rusted after the injury, as she missed the cut at the Cognizant Founders Cup and faced the same fate in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Even at the US Women’s Open in London, the golf world was disappointed to witness a T64 finish for the golf icon.

The Olympic Champion continued her consistency during the Amundi Evian Championship, concluding the tournament with a dominant T9, 5-under-par finish.
