Charley Hull had a fantastic run at the US Women’s Open in July, taking home the second prize. She later revealed that she had been diagnosed with ADHD, news that came as a shock to her fans. Hull, however, announced she was a warrior and was ready to deal with this with sheer determination.
Performing at the Portland Classic this week, with a good opening round at the 1.5 million event, the English Golfer has provided a positive update on her medical condition.

Charley Hull provides positive update on her struggles
The first round at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club, Oregon was a rainy day but players managed to pull through all the drizzling. With the aid of some impressive birdies at early holes, Hull is sitting on T11 after the first round. At the post-round press conference, she was asked about what was she doing to keep up the momentum. To that Hull answered, “Just working on my swing loads. Practicing every day. Keeping patient. Also having some days off as well. Just enjoy playing.”

Before her health revelation, Hull spent some time at her home and credits that break for improving her condition. She said, “I think with my ADHD that really helped me when I went home for four weeks and took a month off. That helped me kind of settle everything.”
Hull went on to reveal that her ADHD had been quite severe and it helped her understand why she was often bored on the course. She also revealed that she found it hard to concentrate. But she has found her triggers and is working on them. She worked on her swings to get her confidence back. ADHD is a sensitive issue and impacts many children and adults in various stages of life.

Hull’s struggles with ADHD and her road to improvement
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) has been declared as a mental health disorder by many renowned doctors. The condition includes hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. Just like Hull complained about a lack of concentration, people with ADHD struggle to focus on tasks. To deal with this issue, effective remedies mostly suggested are medications, counseling, lifestyle changes, and therapy. Hull too has been applying these measures and they are showing a positive impact on her.

This year she missed the cut at multiple events but with positive efforts on her game and health, she now seems to be doing better than earlier. Having taken steps to increase awareness and showing people that ADHD only impacts aspects of life if one allows it to, Charley Hull has been an inspiration while she battles this disorder.
