Annika Sorenstam might have retired from golf a long time ago, but she continues to swarm headlines to this day. Despite the nature of the Charles Schwab Challenge, the LPGA Tour icon was once again hailed at the event for the 20th year of a remarkable feat.

Following the commencement, the Sorenstam household was full of joy and delight. The former golfer’s husband, Mike McGee, couldn’t hide his smile, as he posted a heartfelt message for his wife in reply to a user’s tweet.

As such, both McGee and Sorenstam are active users of social media and voice their opinions on a number of issues. With his wife being conferred with laurels on the anniversary of her incredible achievement, the man of the house couldn’t help but sing praises about his wife.

Henceforth, a seemingly appreciative comment from a user left Mike typing out his emotions. The father-of-two claimed that his wife was an even better person than a world-class golfer, while also thanking her presence every day. Here’s the tweet:

Indeed, the incident merely demonstrates the ever-lasting bond between McGee and Sorenstam. The couple married in the year 2009, shortly after the latter retired from her career.

One of the most legendary names on the LPGA Tour, Sorenstam was well-ahead of her competition during her days on the course. Indeed, the field looked slim in comparison to her talents, which eventually landed her a spot on the men’s PGA Tour.

Back in 2003, the PGA Tour’s Bank of America Colonial grabbed all the headlines for a very special reason. Among its sponsors’ exemptions was the frame of 32-year-old Annika Sorenstam, who had decided to try her hand on the men’s tour.

The buzz around the course for the tournament week was gratifying. Everybody wanted a word with Sorenstam on how she felt, with fans thronging the course to support the LPGA star.

Sorenstam would eventually miss the cut but not before shooting respectable scores of 71 and 74 at the Colonial Country Club. It was her last venture on the PGA Tour but became a road for others to follow in the years to come.
