‘Mom Was Always a Great Shoulder to Cry On’: Bad Boy of Golf John Daly Once Got Emotional While Talking About His Mother

John Daly is probably the most glamorous golfer on the PGA Tour in the history of this sport. He had a perplexing relationship with fans, as they loved and hated him at the same time. However, these things never bothered Daly, as he kept doing whatever he wanted. He had the most peculiar lifestyle any athlete could have. Despite that, he registered two major victories to his name.

However, like every human being, John has an emotional side to his personality. And when he talked about his mother and her role in his life, the golfer became emotional. It was heartening for all fans to see the party-loving Daly, who had never exposed this side of his personality.

However, the golfer could not hold back his emotions while talking about his mother. “Mom was always a great shoulder to cry on, or she‘s always there for me when things were great and when things were bad,” said Daly.

However, sadly, Daly’s mother passed away in 2002 while he was competing at the Australian PGA. She was 65 years old and had been suffering from lung cancer for three months. Therefore, John said he looks at his mother as an unbelievable woman.

“My mom has been just an unbelievable woman to put up with the things that my dad did, but then I look at, you know, my life when things were bad with all my wives, they just were gone. When things were great, they were just right there by your side, but when things were bad, they were gone,” concluded John.

Meanwhile, Daly has had four marriages over the years. And he believes none of his ex-wives have been supportive during his bad phase like his mother. Hence, none of his marriages worked well for him until he met Anna.

Anna Cladakis has been John’s girlfriend for a while. However, they haven’t made any announcements regarding their marriage yet. But the couple has been together since 2007 and shares a great bond. According to Daly, she has supported him in every situation, just like his mother.
