Brooks Koepka is always considered to be one of the most athletic golfers in the sport. He now plays for LIV Golf but he was once a star player of the PGA Tour. Koepka became the first player since Curtis Strange in 1988 and 1989 to win two consecutive US Open in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, Koepka also won his third major at the 2018 PGA Championship. He shot a major-championship-record-tying 264 over 72 holes.

His triumphs at the 2018 U.S. Open and PGA Championship marked the first occurrence of this double victory since Tiger Woods achieved it in 2000. The following year, in 2019, he clinched his fourth major win at the Bethpage Black during the PGA Championship. Four years ago, the Golf Hall of Fame, Tiger Woods assessed Koepka’s athleisure, and a very special athlete agreed with him.

Woods is often seen making references to other sports while trying to explain golf. 4 years ago, when asked about Koepka, he did the same.

He said that Keopka didn’t look like him, as he was never that big. Despite the size difference, both of them are able to generate speed. Woods thanked his whip and timing for the speed, and Koepka’s was just pure power

“Brooksie’s just got pure power, and he’s an athlete. He played other sports, and he could have easily been a baseball player. Players like that who come to golf generally hit the ball far because a baseball bat is so much heavier than a golf club. If you’re able to generate bat speed, you can definitely generate clubhead speed in golf.”

Bob Koepka, who is the father of Brooks and Chase, is the son of Burwell Koepka and Mary Margaret Groat. Mary Margaret is the sister of Dick Groat, who happens to be Bob’s uncle.

Dick Groat, the baseball legend and also, Koepka’s great uncle agreed with Woods. “I never thought of it quite that way.” “But it makes sense. I was never a home run hitter. But if you’re trying to hit Bob Gibson or Sandy Koufax and their 100-mile-an-hour fastballs, you better have some bat speed.”

He planned on playing both sports professionally, but later, decided to focus solely on baseball. During his career, he spent nine seasons playing for the Pirates, where he won the NL batting title in 1960 and also became the league MVP. Before the start of the 1963 season, Groat was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, where he almost won a second MVP title.

Overall, Groat played for 14 seasons in the major leagues, spending three seasons with the Cardinals, playing for parts of two seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, and spending part of one season with the San Francisco Giants.
