He’s a billionaire, he’s an entrepreneur, he’s the PGA Tour’s pride, yet he is more than $12 million behind The Commerce Comet. Collecting mint condition, limited edition cards is not just a hobby. It has quickly become a status symbol in this era. Luckily for the golfing community, the Tiger Woods card is one of the coveted acquisitions. Unlucky for him, he is $12.3 million behind Major League Baseball GOAT Mickey Mantle.

Per a tweet going viral, the Yankees legend tops the list of the most expensive card in all sports, leaving behind the names Tiger Woods of golf, Pele of soccer, and a few more stalwarts. If comparing the worth of Woods’ and Mantle’s cards, there is a glaring difference of over $12 million.

Tiger Woods’ card is worth just $336k while the Yankees legend’s card is worth a whopping $12.6 million. Woods’ card was valued at a mere 2% of the card for the late New York Yankees legend. Despite all his accomplishments on and off the golf course, the Tiger has fallen far behind on the list of expensive collectibles. But why was Mickey Mantle’s card bought for such a whopping amount?

Mickey Mantle was a serial winner

Having played for 18 years in MLB, Mickey Mantle dedicated his entire career to the New York Yankees only. Apart from being a serial hitter, The Commerce Comet was a leader for the Bronx Bombers, leading them to seven World Series. A ruthless better from the plate, Mantle remains only the second Yankee after Lou Gehrig to win the Triple Crown in MLB.

Having a batting avg of (.353), smacking 52 HRs, and hitting 130 RBIs, the then-Yankee slugger topped the all-batting stat in 1956 to win the prestigious title. During the last MLB season, Aaron Judge came close to becoming the third Yankee to win the Triple Crown, but the reigning AL MVP failed to do so.
