The golf ball rollback policy has sparked a heated debate among professional golfers. The USGA and R&A are likely to announce that they will change the rules to reduce the distance in golf, and this change won’t be limited to elite players. The aforementioned policy has stirred up a heated conversation in the golf world, and the golfers are not shying away from sharing their opinions.

Rory McIlroy and the PGA Tour Pro have expressed their opposing views on the issues. McIlroy supports the golf rollback policy, saying it will benefit the average golfer and the game as a whole, as well as restore some skills that have been lost in the modern game.

Not everyone agrees with McIlroy’s stern stance on the bifurcation. Michael S. Kim, a PGA Tour pro, has hit out at McIlroy and others who support the golf ball rollback. The 30-year-old golfer has criticized the rollback policy in his latest tweet. The golfer questioned “bifurcation” and called it “misleading.”

Extending on his “misleading” remarks, the golfer said that it is not right to say that bifurcation has already been there in golf. He said that it is not really a smart choice to give amateurs and “Tour” professionals the same equipment to play.  “To say bifurcation was already there is a bit misleading as well. If you gave amateurs the same access to the “tour” equipment, their handicaps would be the exact same.”

He also quеstioned the sustainability argument and said, “I don’t really understand the sustainability argument. Going from 7500 to 7200 doesn’t seem like a massive difference to me, and most courses shouldn’t be at those yardages anyway.” Kim’s stance on the golf ball rollback policy is entirely different from that of the Northern Irishman.

As per Rory McIlroy’s tweet, the people should be mad at elite pros and golf equipment manufacturers for the rollback policy. The 4x major champion extended his support to the governing bodies in question and said that the golf rollback policy would not have any adverse effect. It would only “bring back certain skills in the pro game that have been eradicated over the past 2 decades.” The Irish golfer referred to the game as already bifurcated and pointed out that tour professionals do not use the same equipment as amateurs.
