Each and every important moment in our lives is made extra special by the people whom we decide to spend it with. It is especially the case when an athlete emerges victorious in a tournament just like how Sahith Theegala came out on top in the Fortinet Championship that ended on Sunday.

The momentous occasion scripted Theegala’s name into the annals of history as he registered his first win on the PGA Tour. And, the professional made sure to enjoy the epic experience in the presence of a celebratory crowd on the course. Emerging as the leader of the Fortinet Championship is no small task. The field boasted many top golfers, including names like Justin Thomas, Max Homa, and Cam Davis among others. Be that as it may, the professional managed to take home a cut of $1,512,000 all the while attracting attention to his skills and technique. But Theegala’s response to the win has captivated a lot more hearts than his victory, if truth be told.

Commenting on the win, the 1X PGA Tour winner mentioned how the moment still “doesn’t feel real”. The professional pointed out that the result was probably not going to sink in for some time. The 25-year-old also talked about the tournament as “some of the most fun” he’s ever had in his life. He didn’t forget to mention his family and friends who cheered him on all through.

Theegala said, “Just the support I have is mindblowing,” as he recounted the past few sleepless nights thinking about the same. The video then ends with the American professional revealing: “it [the victory] means the world to me.”

It was the same case for his supporters as they were seen celebrating the final putt that earned him the title. It doesn’t take long to realize the amount of love he has received throughout the tournament from his followers.

The final shot into the hole saw the audience, including his family members and friends, roar in applause for the golfer as he scripted his maiden Tour win. His 74th start allowed the professional to finally prove his mettle. The drought finally ended for the golfer who turned pro in 2020. But his accomplishment would have meant so much less if his family had not been there in attendance. This is especially evident in the video as the champ’s father celebrates in an exalted manner with the people standing close to him, presumably his friends. One can’t help but feel touched by the father’s reaction to the American golfer’s win at the FedEx fall event.
