How does Tiger Woods manage to win major tournaments?
In a video covered by Golf Digest, Woods disclosed everything related to his practice sessions and training. The golfer talked about what all he has to go through to win tournaments across the world. However, there was one part of the video that shocked the fans the most. And that was when Woods casually said that he sacrifices some tournaments on purpose so he can play better at major championships. But how exactly does that work?
According to the golfer, smaller tournaments give him a chance to experiment with his game a bit. Hence, he uses the opportunity to practice new shots during certain tournaments. But his goal is to prepare himself for the major championships coming his way. “Sometimes I sacrifice in a tournament here and there,” Woods said. “Knowing that the bigger picture, things will pan out…Trying shots that I probably shouldn’t try in some events, may pay dividends down the road.”

And if he wins a tournament with his experimental shots, it just adds up to his confidence. It indicates that he is ready to perform in major tournaments as well.
