The veteran LPGA star, Annika Sorenstam, uncovered the secrets to success on the greens. Annika is known for her support to young female golfers. During an interview with The mindbodygreen podcast, Annika shared her unique perspective and insight. The eight-time LPGA tour winner delved into the mysterious world of golf success and discovered the elusive factor that sets apart the best from the rest. She further talked about the key traits that define the greatest golfers of all time.
Key to being a successful golfer according to Annika Sorenstam
Golf is definitely a sport that requires a lot of precision, skills, and mental balance. Just like any other sport, it is also about performing under pressure and executing in the clutch. In an interview with Jason Wachob at the mindbodygreen podcast, Sorenstam offered her insights on what makes a golfer the best among the rest. During the interview, Jason asked the veteran LPGA star: “So in your opinion, is there a trait or skill that the best have in common? Is it a physical skill? Is it just all mental skill, like what makes the best in golf?”

While answering the question, Annika pointed to the ability to perform under pressure. She stated, “…the obvious I think is skills and I think it really is about performing under pressure performing when you need to hit that shot.”
Elaborating on her point, she further said, “You know when you have one opportunity and you do it and I think a lot of tough players, they know how to how to focus. They know how to stay right there when they need to, and they trust themselves. And I think that’s really the key.”

According to Annika, mind-body connection is the ability that differentiates one from the others. This connection enables golfers to execute with ease and confidence, which is crucial in a sport where every shot counts. She said, “It’s just hard to do something you need the mind and the body to work together when you can see a sharp…” For Annika, it is all about believing in yourself and not being afraid. She said, “I mean, when we do any sport or anything in life when there’s tension. It makes it a lot harder and I think the top players are very good at just focusing on what they have to do now.”
