Min Woo Lee doesn’t like it. Not one bit. He had his shot at glory and was basking in the afterglow of a victory. But it seems the older Lee sibling has a habit of taking the media attention away from him. Not that the Australian Pro craves attention, but who doesn’t like to stay in the limelight, especially after a record-breaking victory, right?
But that’s the story of Min Woo Lee and Minjee Lee. The brother-sister duo from Australia shot into the limelight after they made history by winning two tournaments in two consecutive weeks. But Min Woo Lee was “p**sed” that his older sister laid her hands on the glory and fame that was supposedly his own. At least for a few weeks.
Min Woo Lee admits a bitter truth

The brother-sister duo is gearing up for the ISPS Handa Australian Open. In the only remaining joint tournament in Golf, male golfers will tee up at in a 156-men field. Whereas, the female golfers will joust for the title in the 84-women field.
Despite not playing ‘against’ each other, will we witness some sibling rivalry? Some banters, perhaps? Put your money on it. Min Woo Lee just pulled in perhaps the most significant victory in his career. But as his sister’s history shows, she wins tournaments just a few days, after her brother.
How does Min Woo Lee feel about that? Exactly the way you would feel if your sister stole your thunder at your birthday party. “I get a little pissed off when she wins the week after, because I got the light on me for a little bit and then four days later or like a week later, she’s holding a trophy.”
Min Woo and Minjee Lee are both pegging it up in the Australian Open this week, looking to get their first wins in the event. Minjee has a habit of winning the week after her brother, and Min Woo had this to say about it:

He is not bluffing either. A week after his thumping victory at Macau, Minjee Lee won the BMW Championship. Not for the first time, though. Just days after his 2021 Scottish Open win, his sister one-upped him by winning her first Major. But Lee admits they both want to “keep playing good golf” and it’s not “that bad of a sibling rivalry, but a little petty, from me usually.” Now, at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, the Lee siblings are eying a history-making victory.
What is at stake for the brother-sister duo?
For Minjee Lee, the Greg Norman Medal that she won last week for the third time, was a shot in the arm. She has had many accolades in her home country as well as on foreign soil. But the prestigious Australian Open trophy has been hard to come by. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old Pro is coming off a solid few months that saw her sniff title on two occasions and secure a top-ten finish in the CME Group Tour Championship.

But don’t write her brother off either. The younger brother dominated the 2023 Fortinet Australian Championship throughout the four rounds. A sixth-place finish at the Zozo Championship also earned him a permanent PGA Tour Card. Moreover, the rising star finished tenth on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings as well.

Evidently, both Min Woo Lee and Min Jee Lee are coming on the back of a solid few months. But going by the trend, is a victory for Min Jee Lee on the cards? What’s your take?
