Why are golf carts so fascinating? Remember when the orangutan casually cruised the lanes on the slow but amusing vehicle? For humans and animals alike, the golf carts have provided a tremendous amount of adventure and laughter. Cameron Young once made a spectacular shot, but instead of the greens, the ball was more attracted to the cup holder in a golf cart. DJ Khaled was inspired to be a motivational speaker when his golf cart got stuck in a ditch.

But the golf cart has its horrifying moments too. Unlike the music icon, one particular man from Houston was inspired to commit a crime involving a golf cart, following more closely in the footsteps of Golf’s bad boy John Daly.

The ‘stop-and-go’ incident

For years, the South has been in absolute awe and in stitches over Golf’s very own cult hero John Daly, and his sntics, suffering at the hands of the law in Arkansas state. 435 miles away, in Houston, Texas, 32-year-old Brent Bachmann followed the life of crime, although somewhat tamely and stupidly.

The 4th Precinct issued a command to stop a golf cart that was rolling around the FM 2920’s 8900 block. The driver, instead of following regulations and explaining why he was driving around in a golf cart, chose to disembark from the vehicle and make a run for it. Needless to say, he didn’t get any further on foot than he would have in the golf cart.

He was arrested and now sits in the rough confines of Harris County Jail awaiting bail. Why? Because, as reported by Constable Mark Harman, “[Buchmann was] charged with Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest.” Evidently, the golf cart was stolen. Why the perpetrator chose to stow away a golf cart instead of a car when committing a felony involving motor vehicles, remains a mystery.

Buchmann will have to state his case at the 339th District Court to avail of bail and bond. His decision to first steal a golf cart of all vehicles and then abandon it to run from trained officers is a head-scratcher in Texas.

What happened to John Daly, 435 miles away?

In another southern corner of the United States, John Daly created headlines for years with his drunken disorderly, and hilarious incidents. The bad boy of golf was arrested but not tried. Instead, he was released the following day once he sobered down.

Arkansas has also stood witness to some of Daly’s strange and laughable behavior, including a $400 bill from Taco Bell in his state of inebriation. Say what you will, but the golfer’s drunken haze did benefit many businesses in his state. That is more than we can say about Brent Buchmann’s antics, who wasn’t even drunk at the time and still puzzled everyone.
