Behind every successful golfer is a caddie. A caddie plays a crucial role in not only guiding and advising the player but also motivating them. Mike Cowan, nicknamed ‘Fluff’, is perhaps one of the most well-known caddies on the PGA Tour. Currently, he caddies for 2021 US Senior Open winner, Jim Furyk.
Cowan is a legend in the golfing world. He has had front row seats to most of the amazing golf history that has been created in the past four decades. Not only has he witnessed some of the greatest golfing stars in action, he has also caddied for the likes of Peter Jacobson, Fred Couples and Tiger Woods. Therefore, he is pretty sorted in the experience area.

Jim Furyk is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA tour and PGA Tour Champions. He made his debut in the PGA Tour Champions in 2020 and won his first senior major tournament, the US Senior Open. A testament to their iconic partnership, Cowan recently revealed his feelings for Furyk and was all praise for the veteran golfer.

Cowan believes Jim Furyk is everything a player should be
In a recent video, the 73-year-old was asked what makes a great caddie. Fluff simply and honestly replies, “Well, that’s very simple. A great player.” Cowen has been Furyk’s caddie for 22 long years. Their partnership is still going strong, and the veteran is all praises for the golfer.

He said, “He’s a wonderful guy. Lot of good traits about him, great family man. He’s kind, everything a caddie could want for in a player that he works for. He has not passed on any blame on me in 22 years.”
“And I know there have been plenty of bad clubs. You know misinformation, misjudgement of wind, all kinds of mistakes. He’s never come at me about any of them.”

Recollecting his favourite memory off of the course with Furyk, he narrated a story. Choking up at the memories, he said, “I was in Bermuda a few years ago when this hurricane was beating down on the island and you couldn’t get a flight out. You couldn’t do anything.”
“He actually provided, my wife and daughter were there with me. He provided us with a private airplane to take us home. So, that’s pretty special, something I’ll always be thankful for.”
