The saying that “behind every great golfer, there’s a great caddy” can’t be argued much. Golf has had some remarkable caddies over the years. With the BMW International Open kicking off Thursday, let’s relive an incident — from the same event last year — where a caddie did something quite magical.
For the casual viewer, a caddy is carrying the clubs, right? Wrong. There are many things a caddy does to help the golfer. Sometimes they even go above and beyond their call of duty.
Let’s find out more about the incident!

Caddie keeps his wits about him and helps the golfer
The venue was München Eichenried Golfclub. Portuguese golfer Pedro Figueiredo was in a rather uncomfortable position lining up for a shot. On the edge of a pond with his feet almost submerged, quite a predicament for any golfer!

Realizing he had no choice but to swing his golfing equipment, he went ahead with the only option he had. He did hit the ball but sacrificed his balance in the process, and he was on the verge of falling over, but then Caddy Cool, out of nowhere, announced himself on the stage.
With the speed of The Flash, his caddy Francisco Ataide leaped into action in a split second. Grabbing Figueiredo’s hand, he was able to help the golfer regain his balance.
Ataide did fall backward in his bid to save Figueiredo, but both men were eventually fine. Figueiredo walked away safely, and both men laughed it off. It was quite a hilarious turn during a rather stressful tour.
The internet loved it! Heaped praise on Ataide
When it comes to heart-touching moments, the internet loves getting involved. This was no exception. Once the video went online, people on Twitter started giving their opinions. Some of them were really hilarious.

While most pointed out how the caddy was going above and beyond what they were hired for, the others praised the reflexes of the caddy.
There was a brief moment where he could have negotiated a raise.
