Will Michael Thorbjornsen's TaylorMade arsenal finally lead him to his first PGA Tour victory?

Michael Thorbjornsen joined the PGA Tour in the middle of the 2024 season in June. The 23-year-old topped the PGA Tour University rankings and was given the Tour card because of that. Since then, Thorbjornsen has been trying to get the elusive maiden victory. As the 2024 season ends, he will try again to win the RSM Classic just as the 2023 PGA Tour U alum Ludvig Aberg did. So what club has the PGA Tour pro taken inside his bag for the win?

Thorbjornsen has been a TaylorMade golfer since the 2022 season. This year, he added the newly released TaylorMade Qi10 LS to his bag to use as a driver, according to Golf WRX. He used it with a 9° loft but adjusted it to 7.5° and equipped it with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft. The club offers lower launch and spin yet faster swing speed for the Tour pros and sells for $529.99.

When it comes to the fairway woods, the 23-year-old has only one club in his bag for that matter. He uses the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 4-Woods in a 16.5° loft and has a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 8X shaft. The 4-wood generates faster ball speed and with its titanium twist face, it allows straighter shots; the club costs $399.99 on TaylorMade’s website.

Moving down the list of clubs in his bag, the 23-year-old has three different types of irons in his bag – TaylorMade P-790 (2-iron), and TaylorMade P-7MC (4-PW). The first two irons have the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue XSeven shaft, whereas the last one is equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT X100 (4-PW). The retail price of the 2-iron is $249, the 3-iron sells for $174.99, and the 4-pitching wedge costs around $1,299.99.

The wedges and putter on Michael Thorbjornsen’s bag

As his full bag is sponsored by TaylorMade, even the wedges are the best from TM’s collection. Michael Thorbjornse’s choice is the TaylorMade MG4 (50, 56, and 60 degrees) with KBS Tour 120V. These wedges are specifically made to perform better in wet conditions and give optimum spin around the green as it has a Spin Tread on the face of the head; the club retails for $179.99. The last thing and most important for a golfer is the putter.

Have an interesting take?

Thorbjornsen has been using the TaylorMade Spider Tour X with T-line alignment and has a Golf Pride MCC grip. He uses a 10-finger grip for one particular reason: “When I was 5 or 6 years old, I would go with a complete baseball grip and would have no thumbs on the club, so I think putting thumbs on the club definitely helps, especially at this level.”

“I’ve had it my whole life. I haven’t really needed to change it or felt the need to change. So, we’re rocking with it, and will continue to do so for the rest of my career,” Thorbjornse further added, which is why he uses the same grip on all his clubs. As for his putter, it is the most sought-after putter on the PGA Tour, as the mallet is more forgiving on the greens and allows the ball to sink in easier than with other putters. This club costs $349.99.
