Nelly Korda's mic'd-up moments—Is she the most entertaining golfer on the LPGA Tour right now?

No other event in women’s golf brings the masses together like the Solheim Cup! And when it is headed by the 2024 star player and the world no. 1 Nelly Korda, the excitement level of the audience will surely be soaring high. In the first two days of the 19th Solheim Cup, Korda won all three sessions she was part of and earned three crucial points for Team USA. On the second day, captain Stacy Lewis decided to give the 14-time LPGA Tour winner a break as she did not participate in the Saturday Fourballs.

However, that does not mean that Korda did not have fun. The 26-year-old was mic’d up during the second day, previously Megan Khang and Lexi Thompson were also mic’d up for some of the fans. In the video, the 2-time major winner can be seen enjoying the music on the first tee and talking with teammates. The 26-year-old talked with her captain as Lewis told her that her 360 selfie video at the first tee turned out cool and Korda couldn’t contain her excitement at seeing the results.

At one point, Korda met a young fan named Keegan as Lauren Coughlin introduced the two. She was the daughter of No Laying Up director, Kevin Van Valkenburg. And as Coughlin revealed, she was an amateur golfer and had a great swing. Korda acknowledged it as she excitedly said, “I like your hat. No Laying Up, baby!” She also had fun conversations with the team caddies, where one was purely not drinking water, as he claimed.

Usually, Korda looks to be focused on her game and draining putts here and there without showing any extensive emotion. Seeing this fun and partying side of the 14-time LPGA Tour winner made the golf world love her even more than before.

There have always been expectations put on golfers throughout their careers. Whether it be about breaking records, winning consistently, or anything else, the golfers always find themselves surrounded by it. But it seems that Nelly Korda has fulfilled many of them for Team USA fans. She won six times on the LPGA Tour this year, including the Chevron Championship, and at the Solheim Cup, Korda won 3 points. On the other hand, Lexi Thompson has not won the LPGA Tour in the past 5 years, and at the 2024 Solheim Cup, she earned only 1 point for Team USA. Thus, this fan commented, “Nelly is what the LPGA always wanted Lexi to be.”

Have an interesting take?

Last year at the Finca Cortesin, Korda went through one of the most heartbreaking moments of her professional career. When it mattered the most, she missed green on the 17th hole against Carlota Ciganda, gave the Europeans the 18th Solheim Cup, and put a lot of mental stress on the 26-year-old. But in this edition, Korda was comparatively less stressed and playing way better. Hence, one user said, “So good to see this side of Nelly. We don’t get to see it often enough & she’s had a tough time so far in the Solheim Cup with results but even tho the defeat is tough to take, it’s great to see Nelly at her absolute best this week.”

This year, the Solheim Cup was expected to have more than 130,000 people turning up at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, and seeing the filled tee stands at the course, it seems that number was right. And by the next Solheim Cup in 2026, that number would only grow as seeing Korda and fans have fun has made many make their goal to be at the next one. As this user said, “Solheim Cup is at the top of my bucket list now fr.”

With her fn side shown at the Solheim Cup, Korda has grabbed the attention of the golf world and made the Solheim Cup to be watched by many more. As this fan commented, Most fun @lpga event ever..Nelly leading the party for the USA.” And it might have become more fun because not only Korda has been engaging with fans at RTJ Golf Club, but she has also played exceptionally for Team USA. That’s why, this user appreciated her and said, “Such a great person @NellyKorda A joy to watch.”

There are only Sunday Singles remaining for the 19th Solheim Cup to conclude and crown a team. Korda has been put against Charley Hull for Sunday. Will she continue her dominant run and get the Americans their first Solheim Cup in four editions? It remains to be seen.
