The JM Eagle LA Championship is well underway in Los Angeles and it hasn’t disappointed the golf world. While the competition has been nerve-racking at the ongoing LPGA event, it was the Slam Dunk from a rising star that drew the most attention from golf admirers.

With two more days left at the Willshire Country Club, the ladies competing in Los Angeles will be eyeing the $450,000 winner’s cheque. Though all LPGA stars have been giving their best to claim victory, it is the 25-year-old from India who’s been in the spotlight after her incredible Slam Dunk.

A slam dunk in the LPGA?

Not many professional golfers get to compete in LPGA whilst representing India, but not everyone has the same skillset as Aditi Ashok. The 25-year-old has been a rising force in the professional circuit with six wins to her name and the ongoing JM Eagle LA Championship has been an example. After 36 holes at the Willshire Country Club, Ashok has taken hold of the lead with an impressive 6 under-par score.

During her second round on Friday, Aditi recorded three birdies to take over the lead. However, the highlight of the LPGA event came on the 15th hole, when the 25-year-old managed to score an eagle with an outstanding Slam Dunk. In the world of basketball, the term may refer to a basketball player making the jump to the rim to slam it inside the basket. However, it defers when it comes to golf.

In the 18-hole sport, the term means when a golfer’s shot directly lands inside the hole with no prior bounce. Aditi Ashok’s classy swing helped the golf ball land directly into the golf hole at the Willshire Country Club’s 15th hole. ‘Oh, my word! That’s a Slam Dunk!’, exclaimed the commentator. He further added, “That’s pretty rare”.

Undoubtedly, it isn’t very often that the golf world gets to witness a Slam Dunk. While the mesmerizing shot from Ashok won the heart of the commentator, fans on the internet also had their hearts drooling over the perfect stroke.

As the video went viral among the golf community, fans had nothing but appreciation for the Indian golfer. One fan applauded Aditi Ashok for the stroke despite the challenging weather by commenting, “Great shot Adidi! and great round under tough conditions keep it going”.

Another Social media user took note of how calm Ashok was after the Slam Dunk. The LPGA star did not celebrate her insane shot with a loud gasp, instead just fist-bumped her caddie. “Walk off, mic drop, no need to keep playing after that”, wrote the fan. Apart from Ashok’s eagle, one fan was also in awe of her beautiful golf swing as he commented, “Such a Smooth Swing”.
