Swedish golfer, Ludvig Aberg, turned pro in 2023 after a few appearances on the PGA Tour in the last couple of years. The golf pro played at two of the national team events namely the Arnold Palmer Cup tournaments in 2020 and 2022 and the Eisenhower Trophy tournament in 2022. This year, after joning the professional circuit, he has played 12 events and made the cut in 75% of them.
Aberg is on the way to making a name for himself, especially after finishing in 4th place at the John Deere Classic. However, OEM 2023 is giving him a hard time. A 360-degree lip shot baffled the newly turned pro in his quest for the title. He was ranked second, in between the Fitzpatrick brothers, and undoubtedly aiming for the prestigious $2.7 million title, but the “horrid 360 lip-out” seems to have thrown his stats.
In the short reel posted by the DP World Tour, the 23-year-old golfer is seen taking a putt shot from a couple of feet away and the ball circling the cup only to fall out instead of in. Aberg stepped closer to get an objective view of the hole but ultimately pushed the ball in and picked it out of the cup, seemingly disappointed.

Aberg’s situation inspires empathy among golf enthusiasts
After the “horrid 360 lip-out,” that Ludvig faced during the critical period of his OEM 2023 campaign, admirers of the royal sport expressed their understanding and sympathy for Aberg. Several fans related to the event stating, “Know how you feel mate,” and “relatable.”

European fans had mixed reactions seeing the tragic lip-out. An Italian fan pointed out how the golfer did not throw a fit “off the green.” Some fans expressed their discontent using acronyms like “NSFL,” and “SOAB,” for the tough situation created by the lip-out. There were some who also found humor in the situation saying, “Some mess made on the green if this happened to you…”
One admirer of the European Tour analyzed Aberg’s shot and shared, “Not really if you broke down all his shots over the year from his salary probably got paid 1500 to put that,” in response to DP World Tour’s caption.
