In the world of sports practitioners, the community has lost an inspirational symbol in Dr. Bruce Thomas. The veteran doctor worked extensively with the MLB team Washington Nationals, who paid their last respects to their dear doctor. The condolences weren’t restricted to the baseball community, with golf legend Annika Sorenstam immersing in the sorrow.

Annika Sorenstam shares heartbreaking news of famous doctor’s passing away
The former Swedish professional golfer is a regular user of social media and updates her feed regularly. Yet, her latest post revealed a piece of heartbreaking news, which cast a shadow on the sports community.
“Hoping this is just a bad dream. Losing our friend, confidant and supporter Dr Bruce Thomas so soon is heartbreaking,” Sorenstam wrote in her caption adjoining Mr. Thomas’ picture. Furthermore, she also claimed that he was “so caring, kind and helpful” during his time as a doctor.

As reported by various sources, Dr. Thomas passed away after complications from a recent surgery. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of a treasured member of the Washington Nationals family, our beloved long-time team physician, Dr. Bruce J. Thomas II. He passed away last night due to complications following a recent surgical procedure,” the Nationals said in a statement.

Who was Dr. Bruce Thomas?
Growing up in Maryland, Thomas was hoping for a chance to strike gold in the major leagues. However, he soon realized that his interest lay in medicine, so he decided to become a trained medical practitioner.

Back in the day, sports medicine was a relatively new field. In 1993, the Florida Marlins were on the hunt for a specialist in sports injuries when they stumbled upon Thomas. It was a match made in heaven as the duo remained together for nine years, including their victory at the 1997 World Championship.
