If you live in and around Dallas, send your kids to the Schefflers this Halloween. Chances are they will get a bag full of treats. Given that they dress up as an LMPD inmate like Scottie Scheffler was for a few hours on May 17.
You might have seen that viral Scottie Scheffler caddie bib. The orange bib, modeled on a prison uniform, has Scheffler written on the back. Along with it, there is also an LMPD uniform for your kid and their friend come Halloween. And guess who just lost it after watching that viral photo?
Not the world no. 1 himself, but his wife. The couple were flying home when Meredith saw it on her phone and immediately showed it to her husband (Scheffler isn’t on X). “She just started losing it, laughing. She turns around and says, ‘Look at this!’” Scheffler recounted in Golf’s Subpar podcast.

It’s been six months since the infamous incident. The world no. 1 was arrested on charges of a felony for assaulting a police officer on his way to Valhalla. The two-time major champion was released later that morning, and all charges were dropped eventually.
It didn’t take long for the Internet to make memes, though. Even his peers like to joke about it from time to time. Scottie Scheffler, after his release, talked briefly about the moment, admitting he was ‘shaking’ out of nervousness.

But time makes all the difference. Subpar host Colt Knost asked what he would do if some kid knocked on his door wearing that orange uniform. “I will probably just give them the whole basket; be like, all right, you have fun… Take it all, take it all, you guys win,” Scheffler said laughing.
Of course, the two-time major champion can laugh about it now. The arrest stemmed from miscommunication. But at that time, even his uber-cool caddie, Ted Scott, was shell-shocked and at a loss.
Ted Scott feared the worst for Scottie Scheffler

Ted Scott was preparing to leave for Valhalla when his phone buzzed. Scottie Scheffler left half an hour before him. He picked up the phone and saw a text that read, ‘Sorry.’ Scott thought it was because he wouldn’t be able to caddie the next day due to his daughter’s graduation.
“I thought it’s just a graduation. It’s no big deal. So I put that on the text, and he goes, ‘No, Scottie.’ And I said, ‘Scottie, what?’ And he said, ‘Scottie got arrested.’” Ted Scott was baffled. And then he saw the PGA Championship notification about an accident and the traffic blockade.
Scott feared the worst. That his employer had hit someone by accident and had been arrested. A flurry of calls followed. Scott learned Scheffler was arrested for a different reason. Nevertheless, the chances of missing tee time were always there. Eventually, Scheffler was released an hour or so before his tee time, which was delayed because of the shuttle bus accident.

“It was really cool to see his character shine above that situation, and the truth got revealed,” Scott said in the Subpar podcast just a week ago. Scottie Scheffler chose not to sue the LMPD. And he most certainly won’t sue anybody wearing that viral caddie bib.
