The Memorial Tournament kicks off on June 6th at Muirfield Village Golf Club, with an insane purse of $20,000,000. It is the second-last signature event on the 2024 PGA Tour schedule. The 18-time major winner, Jack Nicklaus founded this annual event in 1976. With golfers such as World #1 Scottie Scheffler, resurgent Rory McIlroy, and newly crowned major winner Xander Schauffele descending on the course, you might not want a delay or cancellation on the game day.

So, before you decide what you wish to carry with you during the event, make sure you go through the weather forecast first. You should try to wear comfortable clothes and bring an umbrella, as a few afternoons at Muirfield might surprise you with sudden showers.

The day before the official commencement on Thursday, June 5 will be seeing heavy thunderstorms during the day and early in the evening. According to Accuweather, “thunderstorms can bring flash flooding and localized damaging wind gusts.” With an estimation of about 90% chance of precipitation in the day and about 3.8 mm in the night, golfers might expect wet greens on the first day.

Thursday might expect some early showers around 8 AM. Although mostly sunny, the day might have about a 30% chance of precipitation. With the wind blowing about W at 22 km/h, the temperature would range between 79F and 63F. The following day, the second round might expect some rain later in the day, after 2 PM. The wind will be blowing WNW at 24 km/h with a temperature between 74 and 60 °F and again precipitation chances at 30%.

The last two rounds on June 8th and 9th would be mostly sunny, with higher temperature ranges of 77F–59F and 77F–62F. Showers can be expected on both days, but only with a 30% chance of precipitation. While Saturday would encounter SW 20 km/h wind blowing through Muirfield Village GC, the final round is predicted to have WNW 22 km/h.

A surprise awaits at the Memorial’s second round

The days of fireworks are gone on Muirfield, and this Friday will witness a light show by drones. According to NBC 4i, “On Friday at Fore!Fest, fans will be treated to a 15-minute custom drone lights show that will fill the sky with images 300 feet tall and 500 feet wide.” Hitting the sky at 9:45 PM, fans should face westward to have an uninterrupted experience of a drone show on golf and Memorial themes.
